Early Childhood Development Resource for Parents
Birth to 5: Watch Me Thrive is a coordinated federal effort to encourage healthy child development, universal developmental and behavioral screening for children, and support for the families and providers who care for them.
Census Makes a Difference
Help Hutchinson Public Schools keep census information up-to-date.
Call Jen Lickfelt at 320-234-2610 if:
- You have had a baby recently
- You have an infant, toddler or preschooler and have moved into the school district
- Your address and phone number has changed since the birth of your preschool child
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE)
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a community education program of Hutchinson Public Schools. Through ECFE, parents and children, birth to age 5, take classes together that promote interaction and teach parenting techniques. Our program seeks to involve parents in their child’s education right from the start. Not only are they a child’s first and most important teacher, but research shows when parents are involved, children do better later in school. Visit the Hutchinson ECFE page for further details.
Early Childhood Screening
Early Childhood Screening is a health and developmental assessment for children ages 3 years and older. Early Childhood Screening is mandatory in the state of Minnesota for all children before they enter kindergarten. Visit the Hutchinson Early Childhood Screening page for more information.
Play and Learn Preschool
Play and Learn Preschool provides a structured, supportive setting where children can participate in a variety of activities appropriate to their developmental level. Play and Learn is an inclusive preschool program which integrates children with special needs. You can learn more about Play and Learn by visiting the Play and Learn page on our website.
Early Intervention
Children develop in certain predictable ways, referred to as developmental milestones. Milestones cover four areas of a child’s development — cognitive, communication and language, social and emotional, and motor. Learning more about these milestones will help you understand how your child learns and grows. Visit Help Me Grow for further information about developmental milestones. If you have concerns about your child’s development or if your child was born with a significant medical condition you can make a referral.
