What does the Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC) do?
The Special Education Advisory Council (SEAC):
- Represents the interests of district learners with disabilities from birth through age 22.
- Advises the Special Education Department on program development and department priorities.
- Serves as an advocate for high-quality special education programs.
- Promotes communication among family, school, and community.
- Acts as an advisor to the Special Education Department on programs and services in Special Education.
- Meets a minimum of once a year.
Members of SEAC are appointed by the Special Education Director.
To the maximum extent possible, membership shall be representative of the different age groups, disabilities, gender, and ethnic diversity reflective of the district’s special education program.
