West Elementary has undergone some changes over the past year in order to make the school more safe and secure. This video was produced with the intention of informing parents about these changes and to educate parents about the ways that West Elementary ensures the safety of all students. We discuss how to visit West, how to pick up your child early, and end of the day procedures as well.

Who can visit with Cooper?
Cooper will be accessible to all students.
What is Cooper’s purpose?
Dogs are great for reducing anxiety and calming students (and teachers) during the school day. Dogs are also helpful in teaching empathy, compassion, responsibility, and how to treat others.
What if I don’t like dogs?
Petting/visiting Cooper is completely voluntary. You always have the right to refuse contact with him.
Where will Cooper be during the school day?
Cooper will be in Mrs. Buker’s office. He will always be leashed while in the hallways.
