Congratulations to Jacob Mraz – Boys Hockey,
the TIGER of the Week for November 28 – December 2
Jacob Mraz – Boys Hockey
Jake started the season with a goal and two assists in our first game.
Jake worked diligently in the off-season to enter his senior season in great shape. He has proven early on that he is well respected by teammates. Jake’s hard work and effort are byproducts of his wonderful attitude.
Thayne Johnson, Activities Director
Lori Mittelsteadt, Administrative Assistant
Congratulations to Emma and Ann, our TIGERs of the Week for November 21 – 25
Emma Benson – Girls Hockey
Emma made 41 saves on 42 shots Tuesday in our season opener and we won the game in OT, 2-1. When it’s game time and the team needs a goalie to perform, Emma is always going to give it her all. Her effort shows in games like these to be prepared for several odd-man rushes coming back our way and still making the saves.
Ann Landreville – Dance Team
Ann is a senior captain of the Showstoppers Dance Team. She has been a tremendous leader at practice, and a positive role model for new dancers. She is determined to reach our team goals and demands more from herself than others.
During a “Taste it Tuesday” Tatchos were introduced to our high school students – they loved it.
Tatchos are potato rounds with shredded romaine, cheese and other nacho toppings.

1st Grade STEAM Night was held on Thursday, November 10th.
West Elementary’s STEAM Family Night was well attended! It was an opportunity for families to experience and discover hands-on learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math. Thanks to our 3M engineers and HS and MS students for helping. It was a night of enthusiasm and energy, and family fun!
Congratulations to Isaiah and the girls section swim and dive team, the TIGERs of the Week.
Isaiah Nelson – Football
Isaiah lead the Tiger football team in both rushing and touchdowns during the 2016 season. Isaiah is a gritty, tenacious player that respects his team as well as the opponents he plays against. He gets the utmost out of his ability and brings out the best in others around him.
Girls Swim and Dive Team
The girls won their 10th consecutive section championship. Throughout the season the team has had members out due to injuries and or illness in almost every meet. Even with this they were able keep focused on the goal of winning the section meet.
Infectious diseases occur nearly every day in our school district.

November 14 – 18 will mark the 95th annual observation of American Education Week. The AEW tagline, “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility,” highlights the importance of bringing together educators, parents, students and communities in a unified effort to build great public schools.
Today’s teachers, education support professionals and substitute teachers do more than teach basic skills. They nurture and inspire children despite obstacles. They help students learn essential skills not always measured in testing, such as critical thinking, conflict resolution, cooperation and problem solving, which helps students throughout their lives. These people are valuable assets to our schools and community.
I invite you to visit our schools to see amazing educators and students in action and learn how you can become more involved. Ask how you can contribute to a child’s success. We’ll be glad to speak with you and find opportunities for your involvement.
We are proud to make a difference in the lives of your children by being an essential partner in their education. Let’s take time to celebrate all of our work on their behalf.
Congratulations to Adam and Trevor, the TIGERs of the Week for November 7 – 11.
